Venice, 1716. A talented violinist named Cecilia languishes within the austere walls of the Ospedale della Pietà, an orphanage renowned for its exceptional all-female music ensemble. Her spirit is ignited by the arrival of Antonio Vivaldi who recognizes her brilliance and nurtures her defiance. Through his mentorship and the transcendent power of music, Cecilia finds the courage to shatter the chains of convention and reclaim her identity.
Expanding on Tiziano Scarpa’s novel Stabat Mater with award winning screenplay by Ludovica Rampoldi, PRIMAVERA marks Italian stage director Damiano Michieletto’s directorial debut, blending stunning visuals from cinematographer Daria D’Anotonio and an unforgettable score from Fabio Massimo Capogrosso (Best Music, David di Donatello Awards).
