Introductions!

Who or what is Filmhouse?

We’re Filmhouse, Singapore’s dedicated third space for moving visuals, nestled in the iconic Golden Mile Tower. Once home to Golden Theatre, the biggest cinema of its kind in Singapore and Malaysia back in the ’70s, and later to The Projector, Singapore’s beloved independent cinema, this place has always been about more than just watching films.

When The Projector closed in 2025, it left a gap not just in programming, but in cultural conversations. Filmhouse was born from a profound belief: that authentic storytelling deserves curation, that diverse cinematic voices deserve amplification, and that discerning audiences deserve a space where film can be watched, felt, discussed, and lived.

We’re here to bridge perspectives through thoughtful programming; championing films that challenge, provoke, and inspire. But we’re also here to foster genuine connection, creating a vibrant community where cinephiles, cultural conversationalists, and experience-seekers can gather in an atmosphere that honours both the art form and the people who cherish it.

Filmhouse is a brand new business entity under a different ownership and management.

No, you will not be able to claim. We are a different business entity, and have no oversight on the status of outstanding claims stemming from The Projector’s Closure.

Please support our own bar! Food and drinks purchased from Filmhouse’s bar can be brought into the cinema hall instead!

The cinema foyer and our BLUE ROOM cinema hall are wheelchair accessible. However, wheelchair accessible toilets are only available on level 1 inside the mall. Do make sure the film you are watching is scheduled for the Blue Room when purchasing tickets if you require a WC accessible hall.

For our two other cinema halls, Redrum and Green Room, unfortunately they are NOT WC friendly. You will need to navigate up two flights of stairs to get to the seats. To access the lift lobby of the cinema, please refer to our “Venue & Accessibility” section for more details.

Please contact us at hello@filmhouse.sg if you have more queries on WC access.

Back in the 1970s, level 3 and level 5 of today’s Golden Mile Tower was Golden Theatre; one singular big theatre, featuring over a thousand seats, and was the biggest movie theatre at that time.

Where Filmhouse resides now on level 5 used to be the circle seats of Golden Theatre, looking down onto the stage and screen on level 3. At some point, Golden Theatre was split into level 3 and level 5 as we know today, hence why our seats are so steep!

As a nod to heritage, the original circle seats from the 1970s have been upholstered and preserved.

As per IMDA’s policy, all audience members must be of the required age on the day itself (Not calendar year).

The same applies to M18, which requires you to be 18 years old, and NC16, which requires you to be 16 years old.

We check IDs at the door; underage persons will be turned away and offered swaps at the Box Office. A top up may be necessary if the film you are swapping to is at a higher ticket price. E.g. Swapping a weekday ticket for weekend ticket.

Film Matters

The film age restrictions and classification ratings have been put in place by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) since 1991 to ensure exhibited films are categorised appropriately for different age groups.

Age restrictions apply to the day itself and not the calendar year. E.g. If you are watching an M18 film on 20 February 2026, you have to be 18 years old by 20 February 2026, and not 21 February 2026 or later.
The same applies to NC16 and R21 rated movies.

For more information on IMDA’s classification ratings and policy, please visit here.

To the best of our ability, the film’s language and available subtitle will be listed on the individual Film’s webpage.

If you are in doubt, you may check in with us at hello@filmhouse.sg

At Filmhouse we believe in film diversity, and hope to reflect that in our film programming. Audiences may expect titles from arthouse, indie & independent to slightly more “mainstream” films.

We believe there is a film for everyone!

So are we! Here at Filmhouse, we largely have theatrical releases which screen on a day-to-day basis. Alongside, we (and sometimes together with our collaborative partners) also curate and programme limited screenings, showcases and film festivals according to the seasons and/or themes. Do note that for these types of programmes, the available screenings will be limited in number!

Acquiring and showcasing films is a rather lengthy and logistical process, not to mention classification. As much as we want to show every film out there, we are bound by resources, limited space and commercial & economical obligations. For the films we are definitely showing, do check out our all films page! For latest updates, sign up for our mailing list and follow us on social media! [Facebook, Instagram]

As we plan our film schedule on a week-to-week basis, we are often unable to say for certain when the last screening of a film will be.

You may follow our newsletter and social media for the times we do announce last screenings!

At Filmhouse we have 3 cinema halls with the following screening capabilities:

Blue Room: 2k Resolution, 5.1 Surround Sound
Redrum: 2k Resolution, 5.1 Surround Sound
Green Room: 4k Resolution, 5.1 Surround Sound

No, we do not have the equipment to support 3D Movie screenings.

Parking lots are available at Golden Mile Tower’s multi story carpark.

Wheelchair Accessible Areas & Toilets

Do make sure that the film you are watching is scheduled for the BLUE ROOM when purchasing tickets if you require a WC accessible hall.

Please note that wheelchair accessible toilets are only available at Level 1 of Golden Mile Tower. Enter via the glass doors at the shopping mall entrance (next to the drop-off point), go straight till you see a sundry shop selling snacks and turn right. The wheelchair accessible toilets are located at the end of that corridor.

Accessibility Directions
Golden Mile Tower’s pick-up/drop-off point has a flight of steps leading up to the lift lobby.

To avoid that, you will need to head up the ramp at the unloading bay towards the security counter at the office tower, and then proceed one round through the shopping mall to the cinema’s lift lobby (i.e next to the pick-up/drop-off) and take the lift up to Level 5 which directly leads to our cinema.

If you are parking on Level 5, please note that there are also stairs from the 5th floor carpark to the cinema lobby.

Wheelchair Inaccessible – Redrum & Green Room
The Green Room and Redrum cinema halls are NOT wheelchair-friendly as there are two flights of stairs from each theatre’s entrance (approx 25 – 30 steps) to the seating areas.

If you have someone to assist you up the stairs and onto the middle landing of the theatre, we’d be happy to let you in before the rest of the audience – please drop us an email at hello@filmhouse.sg at least one day in advance of the show to inform us, and arrive at least 30 minutes in advance of the stated showtime.

Wheelchair users are highly encouraged to contact us at hello@filmhouse.sg in advance for further queries and support.

Unfortunately our cinema halls are cooled by central air conditioning (and sometimes affected by the weather) and we are unable to control their temperature! So we recommend you bring a sweater along when you visit our cinema!

At Filmhouse we have 3 cinema halls with the following screening capabilities:

Blue Room: 2k Resolution, 5.1 Surround Sound
Redrum: 2k Resolution, 5.1 Surround Sound
Green Room: 4k Resolution, 5.1 Surround Sound
