Presented at Filmhouse in partnership with the Royal Danish Embassy, Embassy of Finland, Embassy of Iceland, Royal Norwegian Embassy and Embassy of Sweden, the Nordic Film Festival brings together five films from across the Nordic region. Spanning comedy, drama and documentary, this year's film festival glimpses into everyday life and social change across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. From intimate stories of family and relationships to broader questions of community and society, each film offers its own perspective on life in the High North, while finding emotions and experiences that resonate far beyond its borders.
Johannes, an eccentric psychology student, takes us on a twisted journey. Together with performance artist Rakel, he forms an unconventional club with his patients to help them fight back against those who have caused them pain. As the club grows, Johannes struggles to keep it together, while inconveniently falling head over heels for Rakel.

When 90% of the women of Iceland walked off the job and out of their homes one fall morning in 1975 refusing to work, cook, or take care of the children, they brought their country to a standstill and catapulted Iceland to the “best place in the world to be a woman.” Told for the first time by the women themselves, and laced with playful animation, the story is subversive and unexpectedly funny.

After the bankruptcy of their fine dining restaurant, the Eerolas are stuck in the seaside village of Nauvo with no clear plan for the future. In the shadow of the father’s depression both the mother and the teenage daughter rebel against the stagnant life, each in their own way.
